YOUR FACILITATOR – Monique Leverington

Experience and Education 

Monique has a background with over 17 years working as an Adult and youth educator in various settings such as TAFE SA (lecturer) and youth and community service settings and clinical settings in mental health and Alcohol and Other Drugs. Monique is qualified in Social sciences with a degree in Health Promotion and Addictions.  Monique, also has also completed a Post Graduate degree in Adult Education. Monique has qualified as a 500 Hour Expert Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) and has more than 1500 total hours in Teacher Training across various styles of Yoga and Pilates. Including the following modes of movement.  Vinyasa, Yin, Yin and Yang Yang, Hatha, Ayurveda and Yoga Therapies, Thai Yoga Massage Level 1,  Reiki 1, Pilates and Mindfulness (MBSR – Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) certified by the Academy of MBSR in Spain TT1, TT2 and TT3 – https://mbsr.website/ as well as in international teacher and trainer for teachers – Teaching Trauma Sensitive Mindful Movement

COURSE OUTCOME
  • The course will teach new ways to handle body sensations, thoughts and emotions via formal and informal sits and movement
  • The course will support you to develops skills that offer better ways to address and take care of your wellbeing, managing stress and day to day challenges, grievances as they arise more effectively – be they physical, mental, social or emotional.
  • Throughout the course you will be developing skills that make it easier to be with various life challenges and experiences, both the positive and negative, pleasant or unpleasant. This allows you to respond to situations more mindfully and from a state of presence rather than from a reactive perspective.
  • During the course you will learn that there are generally a couple of ways we can handle difficulties, either we change the situation or we change how we deal with the situation. So often the former is not an option so it’s beneficial to learn new ways of relating to situations as they arise.
  • This 8-week course 2.5hr format is a pathway to becoming a qualified MBSR teacher and criteria as entry into the TTR1 and TTR2 training – we recommend  and endorse The Mindful Academy Teaching Training pathway for Mindfulness MBSR Teachers. the link to further pathways click here
